You can preorder for the coming summer’s fishing season anytime during the winter or spring. The cutoff date (get your preorder form to me before this) is May 31. We fish from May to August and are generally back in the D.C. area and ready to distribute salmon by the last week in August or the first week in September. You will pick up your order at one of our pickup locations––in Virginia the pickup location is The Local Market in Falls Church, VA (246 W Broad St Falls Church). Our salmon taste all but straight out of the sea even after 6 months or more in the freezer. Your salmon will come frozen and individually packaged and can be stored in your home freezer with your other frozen food. To eat, simply allow a portion to thaw in the fridge overnight.
We are both fishermen and Alaskans and there is nothing we take more pride in than catching fresh, wild and absolutely beautiful salmon to eat ourselves and share with our friends and customers. Since we catch and sell the salmon ourselves, our customers get the benefit of knowing the fishermen personally. Additionally, Bristol Bay is not only the largest sockeye salmon run on earth but is also one of the world’s most well managed fisheries. We take a unique co-op-style approach with our business, believing that good food should not be partaken of in small amounts and that great food should be shared within communities and help build them. For this reason we sell most of our salmon in half and full shares: one share is approximately 22lb. To arrange a pickup point 2-3 hours from zip code 22207, we require an order of three shares or more. To arrange a pickup point 3-4 hours away, we require a purchase of five shares or more.
